BALTIMORE, Dec 19, 2008 (ASCRIBE NEWS via COMTEX) -- AVT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, has released the Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF2-based Convenience Kit.
The new kit features a Dual-Core Intel Atom processor, which provides design and development support for use with embedded applications.
The Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF2-based Convenience Kit builds upon the capabilities offered by the Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF-based Convenience Kit -- the first board-level Intel architecture development tool released by Avnet in June 2008 -- and offers engineers the ability to rapidly write and test software around an Intel embedded architecture platform. Designed for use with embedded medical, factory automation, kiosk and instrumentation applications, the new kit allows designers to quickly implement a board-level Intel Atom processor-based design within their applications.
"Today's designers have expressed a need for board-level solutions that allow them to implement Dual-Core Intel Atom processor-based solutions into their designs without having to develop their own boards," said Marc Gsand, vice president of marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. "The new Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF2-based Convenience Kit utilizes Microsoft Windows XP Embedded and a solid-state NAND drive from Micron Technologies, providing an easy to use solution for increased capabilities."
"Avnet has a proven track record of delivering Intel Atom processor-based, board-level development tools," said Eric Thompson, director, North American Channel Sales & Marketing, for Intel. "The new Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF2-based dual core kit provides increased capabilities for design engineers looking to migrate board level solutions and speed development time of their products."
Avnet is currently taking orders for the new Intel Desktop Board D945GCLF2-based Convenience Kit, with anticipated ship dates set for mid-January 2009.
